The coalition has laid emphasis on a common understanding of CEI, and has organized a series of workshops resulting in the development of an CEI framework (key concepts and learning objectives) based on international standards, taking into account the socio-cultural context, and in line with the technical requirements of the Ministry of National Education.

A CEI programme has been in implementation in Togo since 1987. In addition, in 2009, two ministerial orders institutionalized School Health Education for the Prevention of AIDS and STIs. Different projects have been implemented by partners, but none has been scaled up. A National Programme Against Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy 2015-2019 was developed and implemented.
